Creamy onion soup
Summary
Classic onion soup made with few ingredients, but it's tastier than even. It's perfect as a starter or main course.Ingredients
10 large (1.2 kg) onions
3 tablespoons of butter
1½ liters chicken, meat or vegetable broth
½ tsp thyme
black pepper
2 tablespoons wheat flour
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon light syrup or light balsamic sauce
6 slices toast
150 g Valio Quattro Formaggi
Guide
1 Halve and slice the onions. Mince the desired amount of garlic.
2 Melt the butter in a large saucepan. Sauté the onions until soft, do not brown. Add the broth and spices. Let simmer gently under the lid for approx. 30 min.
3 Add the wheat flour mixed with cold water to the soup, stirring. Let it cook for a couple of minutes. Add the lemon juice and syrup.
4 Place the bread slices side by side on a baking sheet. Cut them into 3 x 3 pieces, or 9 pieces, but leave them in the shape of a slice. Sprinkle with grated cheese (Valio Quattro Formaggi). Gratin the bread at 225 degrees for 3 - 5 minutes.
5 Divide the finished soup into serving bowls. Sprinkle with chopped chives. Add the gratinated bread slices on top of the soup servings.
6 Serve immediately.
Tip! Frosted cheese bread is easy to eat when it is cut into pieces in advance.
